Maybe if you shit your pants at the first sign of stress, you should reconsider choosing law enforcement as your career.
Maybe if you’re a law enforcement agency, you should quit hiring people who shit their pants at the first sign of stress. And perhaps instead of just circling the wagons when your officers kill someone, you should seek out and require better training for yourselves – and be accountable for your lack of it when it fails.
Maybe if you’re a local government, you should ensure that your law enforcement agencies have the funding and resources they need to hire and properly train officers to serve and protect the public without the influence of institutional biases and a “shoot first” mentality. This way, if an unqualified candidate manages to slip through the cracks and become an officer, their training might overcome their natural tendency to shit their pants at the first sign of stress.
And maybe if you’re a citizen who votes, you should elect local government officials who support reforming a justice system that almost always protects the undertrained officers who shit their pants at the first sign of stress before the actual lives of the innocent people who pay their salaries. The people who seek your vote should first and foremost answer to you, the voter, and not just the law enforcement agencies they pay with your tax dollars.
